The Cobblebank Community Services Hub is another step closer to construction after Melton awarded the contract for its delivery.

Contracted to Kane Constructions, the approximately $72 million project is the council’s highest value project to date.

Construction is scheduled to start in June, with the hub expected to be operational by late 2026.

The hub has received $15 million of federal government funding through its Thriving Suburbs Program funding and $4.6 million of state funding through the government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

The six-level Hub, which is targeting a Green Star Building rating, will provide much-needed support services to the fast-growing community in the City of Melton and opportunities for local employment in the community services area.

Services will include employment support, family violence prevention, disability, mental health, family support, drug rehabilitation, refugee support and other culturally specific services for Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Mayor Steve Abboushi said the contract was awarded following a “very comprehensive and competitive tender process,” and the hub will provide “important health, wellbeing and education services for our growing community.”

“We look forward to the delivery of this important project for our residents in the City of Melton,” Cr Abboushi said.
