House ‘significantly damaged’ in Hillside fire

A Bedingham Drive, Hillside, house has suffered significant damage following a fire on Thursday night.

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) received multiple triple-0 calls about the fire just after 11pm.

Firefighters arrived to find a residential garage well alight, with the fire quickly spreading to the attached single-storey house.

Crews got to work quickly using multiple hose lines with an external attack due to the intensity of the fire.

Paramedics were requested to attend for two occupants of the home who had evacuated but were suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire was declared under control at 11:46pm, 25 minutes after FRV arrived on scene.

FRV said the house has sustained significant damage in the fire. A council building surveyor will attend the scene to assess the safety of the structure.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but will be investigated by FRV State Fire Investigation Unit.
