Residents of the western suburbs will have the opportunity to take their job search to the next level at a new job fair, designed to help job seekers gain local employment.

Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton West will hold its inaugural Jobs Fair from August 16 to 20, partnering with Melton council to help residents with their employment journeys.

The event is a new initiative designed to connect locals with a range of prospective employers and provide access to a range of recruitment support services.

Many of the big name retailers at the centre will be looking for staff and inviting job seekers to major recruitment events over the four days, such as Pandora, Lovisa, Bonds, Bakers Delight and more.

The retailers will conduct in-person interviews, with applicants encouraged to register to guarantee their interview time slot.

Support services at the fair will include mentor sessions on résumé writing, interview technique and job support services from Melton council, Jobs Victoria, Hope Street, Youth 6801 Outreach and Wise Employment.

There will also be a free professional headshot session on August 20, with bookings available online.

Woodgrove Shopping Centre manager Kylie Robertson said she believed the event has come at a crucial time for the centre’s retailers who are seeking new hires ahead of the busy Christmas period.

“We’re excited to invite the community to our Jobs Fair, where we’re able to provide a local platform to help job-seekers connect with prospective employers across our renowned portfolio of brands,” she said.

“By hosting a Jobs Fair here at Woodgrove Shopping Centre, we are able to support local retailers and businesses as we know they have a significant number of vacancies to fill.”
