Melton council’s 2025-26 council plan and budget planning is now underway.
With that, Melton residents, community groups, sports clubs, or organisations with an initiative or project that will benefit the community are invited to submit their ideas for consideration.
Council is looking for projects that make a difference to the local community.
Melton mayor Steve Abboushi said it’s important the community has a say as to what improvements they’d like to see in their own neighbourhoods.
“This is a great opportunity for you to tell us what you think should be included in the next Council Plan and Budget and help shape the future of our great city,” he said.
“Last year, we were able to fund projects and improvements residents wanted, including updates to local parks, sports ground facility upgrades, and funding for community activities and events.”
“Your valuable ideas will inform the preparation of the council plan and budget for 2025-26 and help councillors understand our community’s priorities.”
In 2024-25, council received 16 project ideas from our community and provided funding for 10 projects to the value of $584,000.
Council plan and budget ideas should include details about your organisation or group, the proposal for a project, estimated cost, how it would address a community need and benefit locals, and how it aligns with the community vision.
The community will also have the opportunity to present their ideas to the council in person in early 2025.
For those who would like to present their project, please indicate this when you submit your idea.
Council plan and budget ideas can be made online until Monday, January 27 at conversations.melton.vic.gov.au/creating-melton-citys-future
