Health chief ‘reassured’ over hospital

Victoria’s chief medical officer, Andrew Wilson, has praised significant progress by Djerriwarrh Health Services in implementing changes to make its regional hospitals safer.

Mr Wilson said his visit to Bacchus Marsh hospital last week was an important opportunity to see how the service had developed since an administrator replaced the sacked board last year.

“I visited the hospital wards and heard from Djerriwarrh Health Services staff, who have obviously worked extremely hard to implement profound changes at the hospital,” he said.

“My role is to develop ways to strengthen hospital management and systems to ensure doctors and nurses deliver high-quality care. I am reassured that Djerriwarrh has taken appropriate steps to do just that.”
