Moorabool council is seeking community input into the development of its Young Communities Strategy.
The first strategy of its kind for Moorabool is billed to be a fully integrated plan for people aged up to 25 years in the municipality
Council’s Child Youth and Family Services team is reaching out to young people and families to share their feedback and help inform the strategy.
Moorabool mayor Rod Ward said he hopes young people and families would take the opportunity to have their say.
“The voices of young people are vital to this strategy,” he said.
“Children and young people will bring unique ideas and opinions to help shape the document.”
The strategy aims to identify trends and social indicators impacting health and wellbeing for children and young people in the shire and identify programs, services and infrastructure required to meet the current and future needs of Moorabool’s communities.
It also seeks to identify potential cohorts and geographic areas that may require a more targeted approach to improved access to programs and services and identify and recommend contemporary resource arrangements to facilitate the successful implementation and achievement of the plan, including external partnerships.
Drop in and online sessions will take place on Wednesday, October 11, at the Darley Early Years Hub from 2pm to 2.30pm, Thursday, October 12, at the council chambers in Ballan from 9,30am to 11am, and online on Thursday, October 17, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
“We understand term 4 is a busy time of year for families with children at school and in early learning, so if these times don’t suit, please contact council and our friendly staff can arrange to have a survey sent to you so you can have input,” Cr Ward said.
