The state government is reviewing the way it plans for renewable energy and it wants your feedback.
The Community Renewable Energy Project discussion paper has been released for public feedback about the definition of community renewable energy projects, the payment-in-lieu-of-rates methods for community-scale projects and planning arrangements for community-scale wind farms.
Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the state government wanted to “help build and sustain” clean energy momentum.
“Community renewable energy projects … can reduce emissions, create local jobs, benefit the environment, strengthen communities and give Victorians better control over their energy requirements,” Ms D’Ambrosio said.
During community consultations last year, Ms D’Ambrosio said the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning received more than 1300 submissions as part of the renewable energy action plan.
Public consultation on the discussion paper closes at 5pm on Monday, November 28, with a report to be considered by the state government by early next year. To make a submission, or for more information, visit haveyoursay.delwp.vic.gov.au/community-energy.
