Nimble-fingered residents at Ingenia Gardens Melton have been hard at work knitting beanies to donate to seriously-ill children.
Patricia Taylor, Zena Millar, Viv Moore and Lois Myers were among the group of nine senior residents who knitted 100 beanies to provide a little extra comfort for children at Parkville’s Ronald McDonald House.
Village manager Sylvia Cassar said last week she was happy to hand over the special delivery of hats that were crafted over seven weeks.
Ms Cassar said the residents loved coming together to help support others in need.
“The group of ladies are very happy to be doing something nice for the families at Ronald McDonald House who are going through a hard time,” Ms Cassar said.
“Ingenia Communities partnership kicked off last year and we wanted to contribute –this is the perfect way for our residents to get involved.”
Ingenia Gardens resident Vivienne Moore said the worthy cause helped to bring joy to the lives of the families who are living away from home at Ronald McDonald House.
“We enjoy taking the time to visit and help these children in a way that the hospitals can’t,” Ms Moore said.
“It’s important to be involved with places like Ronald McDonald House Parkville, helping to put a smile on little ones’ faces – it’s nice for them to know we care.”
