A Melton South house was “trashed” during a home invasion on Wednesday night.
Police say up to eight men forced their way into the Gillespie Drive property about 7pm.
One of the men demanded the keys to a car parked out the front of the address while the others ransacked the house.
A 68-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man who were home at the time were not injured.
Eddie, a friend of the victims, told radio station 3AW the home invasions needed to stop.
“It’s a joke, it’s got to stop,” Eddie said. “It happens so much that it doesn’t even get reported in the media.”
“[The offenders] were going crazy, trashed the place, stole the car, took the keys.”
The men fled the scene in the victim’s car – a white Ford XR8 sedan, with registration number GSO 038.
Information to Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
