Grassfire advice has been issued for the Ballan district.
An advice message has been issued for Ballan, Fiskville, Mount Wallace and Yaloak as firefighters respond to a grassfire in Fiskville.
The alert, issued at 2.44pm by the Country Fire Authority, states the fire is not yet under control and is travelling from Nariel Court in a southerly direction towards Hamills Lane. The message replaces an earlier advice issued at 2.39pm.
Authorities say there is currently no threat to residents, but people in the area should stay informed and continue to monitor conditions.
Firefighters are on scene and smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads. Residents are urged to keep roads clear to allow emergency services to respond.
The next update is expected by 5.50pm or as the situation changes.
