Melton’s Red Cross team will be out on the streets next month rattling their tins and collecting spare change.
Team member Margaret Wood says the branch collects money to support a number of programs and initiatives.
“The West Metro Emergency Services Team, which includes members from Melton … provides assistance to people involved in major catastrophes like Black Saturday and more personal ones like a single house fire,” Ms Wood said.
“We also operate the Register. Find.Reunite matching service to reunite people who are displaced during emergencies.”
Ms Wood is urging people to spare a thought, and change, for the volunteers and victims.
