Getting into the spirit of Christmas

There will be plenty of free family fun to be had around Melton as Christmas draws closer.

The RCCG LifeWay Chapel is hosting a Carols in the Park event at Atherstone Regional Play Space this Sunday (December 17) – the first of two twilight community music events happening in the coming week.

Melton council is also hosting its Twilight Christmas @ the Horse event on December 19 along High and McKenzie streets.

Carols in the Park will include performances by bands and Melton musicians and evening tea served later in the night. Santa will also make an appearance from 7pm.

The Twilight Christmas @ the Horse event also promises fun for the whole family with stories, live music and craft activities in various locations.

Festivities will start at 4pm and will include a Christmas art trail with an interactive children’s quiz challenge, photo booth, giant outdoor games and roving performers.

Melton mayor Bob Turner said he was pleased to be able to share some Christmas cheer with residents.

“We know how much Carols by Candlelight meant to the community, which is why cancelling the event last weekend was so difficult for us,” Cr Turner said.

“We are very excited to present Twilight Christmas @ the Horse in its place, with countless activities to bring joy to families in our wonderful city.”
