Caroline Springs Scout group is back for in-person action and gearing up for Christmas.
For the third year, the group is selling Christmas trees from their centre in Burnside Heights and delivering to surrounding areas over the first two weekends of December.
Selling trees is one of the Scout’s major fundraising events, with stock quickly sold out last year.
Tree prices range between $55 and $75 depending on size and funds raised will go towards the Scout centre’s yard.
Event organiser Sarah Prentice said the area is “a bit bare” at the moment.
“To make it sun smart and accessible for all-abilities we are fundraising for an outdoor area with shading, decking and fire pit plus equipment and activities.”
The centre was closed during lockdowns, with Scouts meeting via zoom for weekly programs.
With restrictions eased, the group have returned to face-to-face activities this week and are “very excited” to be back.
“The youth just want to get back together and have fun,” Ms Prentice said.
Next year, the Scouts are looking forward to camping the most, with an upcoming event in December to kick off the year.
“We have 27 Caroline Springs Scouts and leaders heading to VicJam – an 11-day Victorian Jamboree – in Elmore, near Bendigo, on December 29, 2021, to tackle activities ranging from abseiling, a wet ninja circuit, robotics and escape rooms,” Ms Prentice said.
