One of the state’s largest revegetation and land conservation programs is looking for community members to join a new advisory committee.
The new committee will provide direction and advice on the restoration of important environmental precincts across Port Phillip and Westernport bays.
Grow West will bring together local people with representatives from the Port Phillip and Westernport Catchment Authority, Melbourne Water, Moorabool council, Southern Rural Water and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning to form the new committee.
Grow West is the overarching body responsible for rejuvenating 10,000 hectares of the upper Werribee catchment, west of Melbourne, and connecting to public reserves, Brisbane Ranges National Park, Werribee Gorge State Park and Lerderderg State Park.
Positions on the new Grow West Implementation Committee will be voluntary, three-year terms, with meetings four times a year.
PPWCMA’s environmental project co-ordinator Helene Lindorff said people with passion are needed.
