Melton and Moorabool residents are being encouraged to get cosy and comfortable with a book this winter as part of the state wide Warm Winter Read challenge.

The local library is taking part in the program which runs from June 1 to July 31 and has readers logging their daily book time each day.

Participants track their reading time online and register as part of their local library

The challenge is run by the Public Libraries of Victoria organisation, with local council libraries across the state also joining in the reading fun.

Each week readers are encouraged to engage in a variety of ways, such as reading somewhere other than at home, reading aloud to a friend, listening to an audiobook, telling a friend about a book and finding new things to read.

To participate, residents over 16 years of age can register through the Public Libraries Victoria Beanstack website and start the challenge.
