General waste area closed at Melton Recycling Facility

The general waste area at the Melton Recycling Facility has been temporarily closed until further notice.

Melton council said on its website that at this time the site was unable to accept any general waste, items that would normally go in your red bin or transferred to landfill,

“Damage occurred to the area earlier… and we will be having it assessed and made safe before re-opening.

“We apologise for any inconvenience, and we will provide updates on reopening as soon as possible.

“The Re-Sale shop remains open, and you can still dispose of other waste including green waste, timber, soils, concrete, recycling materials, mattresses, tyres, batteries, and e-waste.

Temporary arrangements have been put in place at the Melton Recycling Facility to accept general waste from April 6.

Three bays, instead of the usual five, will be in operation so there may be minor delays. All other services remain unaffected.

Otherwise, if you have waste that needs to be disposed of urgently, you can visit one of the following sites:

• Moorabool transfer station, Osbourne Street, Maddingley

• Wyndham Municipal Tip, 470 Wests Road, Werribee

• Sunbury Resource Recovery Centre and Landfill, 515 Riddell Rd, Sunbury
