The Victorian government has announced further funding to boost public aged care in Bacchus Marsh, in order to ensure residents continue to have access to important services.

An additional $3.75 million has been allocated to expand and upgrade the Grant Lodge residential aged care centre.

The funding builds on $5.5 million previously allocated last year, through the government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund.

The funding will allow for Western Health to redesign the site to provide all residents with private bedrooms and bathrooms.

The upgrades will also allow the centre to become a dementia-friendly environment and better suited to supporting resident mental health, by improving modernisation, comfort, safety and efficiency for residents and staff.

The funding boost comes as the Moorabool Shire council is set to transition away from providing aged care services from July 1.

Victorian ageing and carers minister Anthony Carbines said the additional funds would give residents a better fitting environment.

“This funding will mean Western Health can deliver the best possible care in a comfortable and modern facility that residents deserve.”

Buningyong MP Michaela Settle said the government understood how essential it was that aged care centres were upgraded and modernised.

“We know how important it is for people to feel confident in the quality and safety of the care they receive, which is why we’re ensuring all our public aged care facilities have the very best services there are to offer.”
