Lace up your runners – the Eynesbury Mother’s Day Classic is returning this month, offering a community-focused fundraising event for breast and ovarian cancer research.
Each year, communities across Australia take part in Mother’s Day Classic fundraising walks and runs, raising critical funds and awareness for better breast and ovarian cancer outcomes.
At the Eynesbury event, participants can choose between a six-kilometre walk or run through the Eynesbury Forest, with live music providing a soundtrack as they complete the route.
The event aims to accommodate all paces, with golf carts on standby to help all reach the finish line.
Participants can choose to support fundraising for breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research, or both.
Event co-organiser Melanie Blum said the annual event has a “beautiful vibe of community closeness,” with many in the Eynesbury community affected by breast and ovarian cancer themselves or through friends and family.
“We have people who have been through it or are currently going through it … as ambassadors or speakers, to talk about self-checking and following up with appointments,” Ms Blum said.
“People come from other suburbs who have [taken part in] other localities … they always love it because Eynesbury’s different … it’s got the forest.
“It’s a lovely run or walk through the forest … people can do it at their own speed.”
Held on Sunday, May 11 at the Eynesbury Forest, the run will begin first at 9am, followed by the walk at 9.10am.
Entry prices vary, and registrations can be made online.
