Free yoga sessions

For those looking to improve their health and better deal with the stresses of modern life, a series of free yoga classes and mindfulness workshops for adults and children might be a place to start.

In recognition of International Yoga Day on June 21, local yoga communities in Point Cook, Tarneit and Truganina are joining the global celebration of unity, wellness and inner peace.

Kids will get first dibs on the fun, with their class running on between 4.30-5.30pm on Tuesday, June 17 at the Saltwater Community Centre in Point Cook.

The adults won’t have to wait long to get in on the action, because they will get their chance to learn about the benefits of yoga between 6.30-7.30pm on Thursday, June 19 at the Tarneit Community Learning Centre.

Last but certainly not least, the art of keeping your cool will be studied at the mindfulness workshop taking place from 3-5pm at the Truganina Community Centre on Saturday, June 21.

Organised by Still I Rise Yoga Academy in collaboration with SoulSpace, the initiative aims to make the transformative power of yoga more accessible to families and individuals in the local area.

Jennifer Tang, who will be involved in running the sessions as a yoga teacher and mindfulness coach, said there was more to yoga than poses.

“This is more than just about yoga poses — it’s about helping our community connect, ground, and grow emotionally and spiritually,” she said.

Ms Tang also said learning how to slow down is vital.

“Especially for those navigating stress, burnout, or anxiety, these sessions offer a chance to slow down and reconnect—with ourselves and with others.”
