Free Grand Prix fan fest

This year’s Formula One Australian Grand Prix will include a free, family-friendly fan festival in Melbourne for racing fans of all ages.

Announced by the state on Monday, February 24, the free festival will kick off at Melbourne Park Oval on Wednesday, March 12 before wrapping up after the main race on Sunday, March 16.

The five-day festival will feature appearances from sport stars and entertainment icons and will be packed with all sorts of activities, including virtual driver selfies, a ‘Blast Lane’, and a Formula One show car on display.

The festival will also include a dedicated video gaming lounge, food and drinks, and will also give fans the chance to get up close with drivers during live interviews and Q&A sessions.

Tourism, Sport and Major Events Minister Steve Dimopoulos said that the state knows “families are feeling the pinch” and invites Victorians to “come and be part of this iconic, globally-loved event at the free family festival.”

Tickets to the Grand Prix are already sold out for Saturday and Sunday, but anyone can attend the fan festival and watch races and exclusive live crosses straight from the track – while soaking up the atmosphere of the event, free of charge.
