Feedback sought on Leakes Road upgrades

Melton council is inviting the community to share their feedback on potential upgrades for the Leakes Road Corridor in Rockbank.

As part of the 2026-27 council budget development process, council received a number of community responses about the Leakes Road corridor with concerns surrounding safe places to cross, missing footpaths and walking connections, traffic speed and volumes, access from Lightsview Boulevard, and increased traffic as Rockbank grows.

In response, council has carried out a detailed review of the corridor to better understand residents’ concerns and explore potential ways to improve safety, connections, and traffic flow.

Council is now seeking community feedback to help shape future planning and decision-making.

Council has identified several potential upgrades and is seeking community feedback on potentially extending the 50 km/h speed limit along Leakes Road to Greigs Road, installing a priority pedestrian crossing on Leakes Road at Lightsview Boulevard and Greenview Avenue, with speed cushions on the approach in the short term, and raised pedestrian crossings proposed as a longer-term upgrade.

It is also seeking feedback on the potential construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Leakes Road and Greigs Road, constructing a roundabout at the intersection of Leakes Road and Lightsview Boulevard, and delivering missing footpath and shared path connections to improve walking and cycling access.

Feedback is expected to help council understand local priorities and inform future decisions about infrastructure improvements along Leakes Road.

Residents can provide feedback through council’s online platform until Sunday 1 November.
