Moorabool residents are being encouraged to have their say on the future of Ballan Recreation Reserve.
The reserve’s draft master plan, out for public feedback until May 2, details proposed direction for the growth, usage and development of the reserve for the next 10 years.
The document includes a review of current facilities and usage, analysis of future population growth to understand the impact on future uses of the reserve and an implementation plan for staged improvements.
Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell said a community consultation survey found more than 80 per cent of those surveyed had used the reserve in the previous 12 months.
Those who were not using the reserve listed the poor standard of facilities as the main reason.
A council report tabled at this month’s meeting said that initial survey results provided key information for the preparation of the draft plan.
“The findings formed part of the preliminary site analysis and have informed the draft master plan,” the report stated.
“Feedback from this public exhibition period will then help inform the final draft master plan which will be presented for council adoption … on June 6.”
