A man has died after a fatal freeway crash in Melton on Saturday afternoon.
The man was driving a van travelling east along the Western Freeway when his vehicle collided with the rear of a truck that was stationary due to built-up traffic, just west of Hopkins Road.
The driver of the van died at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
According to Victoria Police, 98 lives have been lost on the roads this year so far.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
