Faster nbn rolling out in the west

Faster nbn is now available in parts of Melton.

Faster internet speeds are now available in Melton, Melton South and Brookfield.

Delivered through the National Broadband Network [nbn], the new connections will be able to deliver download speeds close to one gigabyte per second.

The Fibre Connect program delivers Fibre to the Premises upgrades to eligible customers through their preferred phone and internet provider.

The nbn’s customer experience and products executive general manager Joe Lathan said with more connected devices than ever before, there is increasing demand for faster and more reliable internet from homes and businesses.

“The last couple of years have shown us just how critical the nbn network is,“ he said.

“We want more people to reap the benefits of fast and reliable internet, now and into the future.“

Federal Communications Minister Michelle Rowland said eligible local residents and businesses in Brookfield and Melton South will now be able to take advantage of higher speed services.

“Expanding fibre access will ensure Australians are at the forefront of digital connectivity and will help bridge the digital divide,“ she said.

Users wanting access should check the nbn website to see if their address is in an eligible area, then contact a participating phone and internet provider.
