Fans saddle up for fun

The Kryal Castle arena came alive at the weekend when it hosted the Baroque Horse Festival.

The unique event, in its fifth year, showcased Friesian, Andalusian, Warlander and Lusitano horse breeds.

Kryal Castle site manager Phillip Leitch said there were more than 12 horses and riders who took part in displays and competitions.

“It is a great opportunity to showcase these kinds of breeds of horses that are becoming more popular in Australia,” Mr Leitch said.

The festival kicked off with a parade while contests included horse archery, vaquero riding, barrel racing, liberty display and jousting.

“One of the things that makes this event so special is that it is all volunteers that come to perform and participate,” Mr Leitch said.

“It is a really nice display of community and friendship amongst everyone involved”
