Melton kids can explore the wonderful world of clay animation at school holiday workshops put on by the council.

Artist Stephanie Skinner will host the workshops for children aged 10 and older, teaching them how to sculpt characters out of clay, before putting together multiple pictures of tiny movements to create the illusion of motion.

Ms Skinner encourages youngsters to put the detail into their clay figurines and be creative about their stories, which will be turned into two-minute movies.

“It’s all really hands on,” she said. “With the clay we can make characters, backdrops and pretty much anything. And clay gives us the option to morph the characters into anything.”

There is a limit of six people per session for the free workshops, which will run at Raglan Cottage, 232 High Street, Melton, at 10am and 3pm from Tuesday, March 29 to Tuesday, April 5.
