More than 200 people will descend on Melton’s Tabcorp Park this weekend for the annual Relay For Life, and they’re hoping for a record breaking tally.
The event, which raises funds for the Cancer Council, will feature about 10 teams walking around the track from 4pm on April 13 until 10am April 14. Entertainment and activities throughout the event will help keep spirits and enthusiasm high.
Organising committee chairperson Ian Hancock said it was an important cause for the community to rally around.
“We’ve got more than 200 people taking part this year so it’s just as big as ever,” Mr Hancock said.
“We’ll have events, music, stalls, lots to keep people interested. Our theme this year is ‘Relay Around the World’, so each team will pick a country and dress up as that for the relay and add something different to the event.
“We get more people every year taking part, because more and more people are touched by cancer in some way.”
The main entertainment on the night will be Kiss tribute band Kiss Thiss, which will perform a full set of rock classics from the iconic band in full makeup and costume.
Mr Hancock said the aim was to raise up to $60,000 from the event.
