On Saturday, September 6, firefighters and emergency services personnel from right across Australia and beyond will make their way to Melbourne for the climb of their lives.
The 12th Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb will involve scaling 28 floors of Crown Metropol in up to 25kg of operational gear to raise money for several charities.
It will serve as a symbol of the burden of significant health and well-being issues faced by our first responders and their families on a daily basis.
However, the climbers will be far from alone.
A volunteer force of climb crew helpers and medical support teams will be watching their back and cheering them on as they make their way up the stairs.
All money raised will go towards the $1 Million target to support groups in need, such as Lifeline, Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation and 000Foundation.
