Melton police has been made aware of a spate of crime in the Diggers Rest area.

The crime relates to a significant number of incidents of both attempted thefts as well as the report of items being stolen from both vehicles and homes.

On the Melton Eyewatch page, police said many of these incidents it had not been reported to police, but CCTV footage is being shared of the alleged offending on social media.

Police said it is imperative that if you are a victim of a crime then this is reported to police and that sharing incidents via social media platforms restricts police from identifying crime trends and does not provide the intelligence that assists police in performing patrols to reduce these crimes in your neighbourhood.

Police are urging anyone who has had a vehicle or house has broken into, regardless of whether anything was stolen, contact the Melton volume crime unit.

Police are also interested in hearing from people who are not victims but have CCTV footage.
