A Melton South playground has been recognised as one of the best in the state.
Atherstone Adventure Park on Bridge Road, Melton South, won the play spaces landscape architectural award at the Victorian Institute of Landscape Architects awards event earlier this month, beating out competition from across Victoria.
The park, which features swings, slides, climbing spaces and open play areas, was highly commended by the jury of industry professionals.
The judging panel commended the designing architects, ASPECT Studios, for their flair and imagination.
“Bridge Road Regional Playspace is a fun and engaging public space, which incorporates a wonderful array of spatial diversity for children of all ages and abilities,” the judges said.
“The jury particularly enjoyed the use of topographical variation to create opportunities for nature play and utilising the underside of the bridge as a climbing area.
“The use of artificial and natural materials is also well integrated and visually interesting, creating a unified and satisfying design result.”
Each park that was entered in the awards was evaluated for design excellence, innovation, context engagement and social and environmental impact.
