Stage two works to install a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Bacchus Marsh–Gisborne Road are set to begin this week, with construction scheduled to start on Tuesday 6 January.
Located south of Masons Lane, the crossing aims to improve safety for pedestrians and bike riders while strengthening connections between Darley and Maddingley via the active transport network. Works are expected to take up to four weeks, with weather and site conditions permitting.
The second stage will include the installation of pedestrian-operated signals, footpath construction, signage and line marking, with the first stage of the project completed in January 2025 and involved earthworks, drainage, service installation and pavement works.
During construction, road disruptions are expected, with crews on site Monday to Friday and some weekends.
Speed limits will be reduced to 40km/h, traffic controllers will manage one-lane traffic flow, and temporary pedestrian detours may be required at times.
The project forms part of Moorabool Shire Council’s Strategic Cycling Corridor Network.
