Chris Williams draws inspiration from anywhere and anyone. But his debut single Shining On You was inspired by his daughter.
“The song is about being yourself, not being ashamed of who you are and being true to yourself,” Mr Williams says.
The 38-year-old Melton man has been playing the guitar since he was 12, but over the past few years has started writing his own country music.
In the past 12 months he’s released two singles, both of which are in the Top 40 Australian Country Tracks chart, and is in the midst of planning an album. He’s also been nominated as the ‘most popular independent male artist’ in the Indie Country Music Australia awards.
“I’m pretty overwhelmed and thankful for all the support this early on,” Mr Williams says.
“I wasn’t expecting it – not at all. But it’s something that spurs me on to keep creating music and keeping following the passion.”
The winners of the Indie Country Music Australia awards will be announced at the Tamworth Country Music Festival next year.
