Cool cars, great cause

Car enthusiasts are getting revved up to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation this weekend.

The Street Kred Car Club will host its annual Wheels for Kids Show and Shine meet this Saturday, October 28, in Burnside to raise money for the hospital.

Club president Marcos Saffrone said the event, in its fourth year, attracted hundreds of car enthusiasts and had raised thousands for charity.

“A lot of us are older and a majority have had children and many have had dealings with the hospital,” Mr Saffrone said.

“It’s our way of saying, ‘Thank you’ – and giving back to the hospital.

“It’s a huge thank you from the community for what they do for us and our children.”

He said that visitors will be treated to a lot of fun and high-octane excitement.

“It’s a good family-friendly environment for everybody, with food and plenty of cars,”
Mr Saffrone said.

“We’re calling all enthusiasts, no matter what their make and model, to come and support the event for a good cause.

“It was a no-brainer for us when we chose the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation to support.”

He said security and police would be in attendance to ensure patron safety at the event.

The Wheels for Kids Show and Shine will be held at Burnside Shopping Centre from 7pm-11pm. Entry costs $10.
