Melton residents keen to have new skills packed out Caroline Springs’ Stevenson House last week to take part in Adult Learners’ Week activities.
Last Wednesday, the community centre held a Pakistani and Indian cooking session led by tutor Fareeha Sheraz, which gave food-lovers the chance to learn how to prepare some favourite dishes.
The class was one of a number of free events at the city’s neighbourhood houses, community centres and libraries. Other activities included jewellery making, spring planting, yoga and Nordic walking.
Mayor Kathy Majdlik said adult learners’ week is an opportunity for people to explore how lifelong learning can help maintain active, healthy, happy and socially connected lifestyles.
The week is part of an international festival of learning celebrated in more than 55 countries.
Stevenson House’s cooking class was so successful that the centre will offer Pakistani and Indian cooking classes during term four.
