Concerns raised for Moorabool future green wedges and agriculture plans

Moorabool shire will forward a submission to the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in relation to the plans for green wedges and agricultural land in the area.

In a meeting last night, the council moved to give consultation to the department, noting the project is supported, but the “blanket” approach of development on all agricultural land within 100 kilometres of Melbourne is an issue.

Concerns were raised with many of the options proposed by government and council will seek clarification or changes to a number of proposals.

Some issues include the ‘Melbourne centric’ focus on the consultation paper, lack of support options for agricultural landowners, and the lack of direction notification of landowners.

The department is currently reviewing all submissions.
