A social club for retirees in Melton is opening it’s doors for visitors and new members at an exciting meeting next week with a special celebrity guest speaker.
The Melton Probus Club will receive a visit from Father Bob Maguire as a guest speaker at their monthly meeting next Tuesday July 5 and the public are welcome to attend.
Father Bob is well-known in Melbourne for his former work as a priest, community worker and media personality, as he worked for multiple radio stations throughout his career.
The club will welcome Father Bob as their guest speaker for the month and the event will also be an opportunity for any visitors interested in joining the Probus club to learn more.
The club, formerly known as Melton Men’s Probus Club, has recently registered with Probus South Pacific to become a combined group that will have both men and women as members and hope to welcome women into the club from now on.
Club secretary Graham Carter said he was excited for Father Bob to speak at the meeting and was sure it would be “amazing”.
“Father Bob Maguire is going to be a very entertaining speaker,” he said.
He also looked forward to welcoming new members at the event and was looking forward to expanding club activities with the start of the new combined club.
“We would hope to expand to having trips out of Melton, out to the country and more activities in the club, like card game afternoons,” Mr Carter said.
The club have monthly meetings on the morning of the first Tuesday of each month and club lunches or dinners at local businesses on the third Tuesday of each month.
