Calling all budding Melton artists

Melton council is inviting local artists to enter a community art competition, with more than $1400 in prizes up for grabs.

Entrants can create an artwork on the theme of ‘My Melton, My Community’, to celebrate the revitalisation of Melton Town Centre.

Artwork entries can be any 2D format including a painting, drawing, watercolour, collage or photograph.

Artists of all different ages, abilities and backgrounds are encouraged to enter this competition, but must be a resident of the City of Melton in order to be eligible.

Those who wish to enter but do not have access to art supplies can visit the Melton Central Community Centre, as it will be holding regular open studio hours for entrants to work on their pieces with supplies provided. Booking a space is free at these studio sessions.

Finalists will be announced in September, before the winners’ will have their final pieces displayed in High Street shop front windows.

Registration and entries are now open until Friday August 19.
