Business tunes in to Melton fire brigade’s frequency

The Melton fire brigade has bought vital radio equipment thanks to a $1900 donation from a local business.

Station officer Matt Chilton said the portable radios were vital to ensure the safety of firefighters. The radios cost about $2600 and Melton IGA has contributed $1877 towards it.

“Donations from local businesses are very important because it helps the brigade get the little things that are important for day-to-day business,” Mr Chilton said.

“And [it instills in us the belief] that people are still willing to donate money to help the community and for something that is going to save lives.”
