Bus catches fire on freeway

Fifteen people were evacuated from a bus after it caught fire on the freeway last Saturday.

The bus was Melbourne-bound on the Western Freeway when smoke filled the interior and flames erupted from the rear about 4.50pm. The bus still had diesel fuel in a tank at the time.

The bus came to a halt at the corner of the Western Freeway and Anthonys Cutting, Hopetoun Park, where CFA units managed to bring the fire under control nearly an hour later. All 15 passengers were evacuated safely.
