In brief

Square deal

Construction of the $45 million
CS Square redevelopment started last week. The Caroline Springs shopping centre will be expanded by 6500 square metres and will include a Woolworths supermarket, large discount store, car wash, more than 10 specialty stores and a new parents’ room. The works are due to be complete next year.

Fatal accident

A woman died after the car she was driving crashed into a tree in Toolern Vale last week. Investigators have been told the Holden hatchback was travelling south on the Gisborne-Melton Road just before 9pm when it struck the tree. The 44-year-old Kurunjang woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

Breakfast of champions

Springside P-9 College students will have a healthy and nutritious start to the day thanks to the Taylors Hill Village’s Thoughts That Count grant program. The school will receive $1500 towards its breakfast club which provides breakfast for 40 to 50 students daily. The program gives away thousands of dollars to schools, sporting groups and charities. The 1st Caroline Springs Scout Group and Hurricanes Netball Club will also receive funding.
