Bride in dress blessing

The start of 2018 has been life-changing for Elyce Cordy.

The Melton South mum’s journey down the aisle earlier this month was made possible by the generosity of the fitness community that helped her to shed 22 kilograms last year.

She said she dropped the weight over five months through diet and lifestyle changes, guided by the Healthy Mummy program in an effort to “get her life on track”.

Ms Cordy decided to fast-track her wedding plans after receiving devastating news that her father was ill due to complications with prostate cancer.

Strapped for cash, she struggled to find a wedding dress until the organisers of the Healthy Mummy program stepped in. “I was blown away by the generosity,”
Ms Cordy said. “I received a Facebook message from Healthy Mummy congratulating me on the wedding and that they would like to send me a little something. When I returned home … a massive bunch of beautiful flowers and a card were waiting for me.” In the card, the program crew offered to purchase a wedding dress. “I absolutely lost it at my doorstep – I could not stop crying,” she said. Ms Cordy donned her “dream dress” at her wedding in Melton on January 19 in front of close family and friends.
