The Melton RSL will host a special book launch of a Victorian author’s commemoration to families impacted by the Vietnam war in the lead up to ANZAC Day.

Melton & Districts Vietnam Veterans and The Partners of Veterans will partner with Melton RSL in the book launch at the Melton Country Club on April 19.

Bendigo author Dianne Dempsey wrote ‘When He Came Home’ to spread awareness of the impact of the Vietnam War on veterans and their families.

Ms Dempsey’s narrative recognises the work of the partners of veterans who worked hard to hold their families together in a time when there was little recognition of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental illnesses.

The book also focuses on how the issues of PTSD and suicide affect contemporary veterans, including intimate interviews.

Ms Dempsey will attend the book launch, where signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
