Commuters should prepare for upcoming travel disruptions, as a 10-day construction blitz will kick off in Melton and Truganina this Friday night.
From Friday, September 5 until Monday, September 15, crews will work around the clock on rail signalling, building foundations for two rail bridges, and demolishing the existing Melton Station building, with the new station set to open to passengers next year.
A temporary station will be constructed in its place to allow passengers continued access to train services.
Across Melton and Truganina, works are underway to remove four level crossings.
To allow these works to take place safely, buses will replace trains between Bacchus Marsh and Caroline Springs from Saturday, September 6 until Monday, September 15.
Road detours will also be in place, with Exford Road closed at the level crossing from 8pm on Friday, September 5 to 5am on Thursday, September 11.
When trains return to the line on Monday, September 15, passengers can use the temporary Melton Station, with some pedestrian access changes in the area.
Commuters will be able to move between platforms one and two using a new pedestrian pathway that follows the rail line and crosses over Exford Road.
When the Melton level crossing removal project is completed next year, new rail bridges will take trains over Coburns and Exford roads and new road bridges will carry vehicles over the rail line at Ferris Road, Melton and Hopkins Road, Truganina.
The new Melton Station will open to passengers in 2026 and will include a pedestrian through link that aims to provide accessible entry to each of the four platforms.
