Diggers Rest will be abuzz with excitement this weekend as “J” Beekeeping School’s festival swarms through town.

The annual Beekeeping and Honey Festival showcases the tastes, sights and smells of a variety of honey products, including meads, liqueurs and candles.

Publicity officer Aaron Goldsworthy says the festival has always been a hit with young and old alike, with demonstrations of bees at work as well as tastings and sales.

“The kids love getting up close to bees, whether it be at the beekeeping demonstrations, watching through the glass hive or when one brave soul dons a beard of live bees,” Mr Goldsworthy said.

And local beekeepers will be delighted to talk about the different areas they use to house their hives, how different plants and locations provide different flavoured nectars.

The festival will be held on Sunday, March 6, from 10am to 4pm, at Jadran Social Club, 35 Duncans Lane, Diggers Rest. Entry costs $3 for those aged over 15. For more information, email secretary@jbeekeeping.org.au
