Beating boredom with Melton’s school holiday program

Winter school holidays in Melton so far have been be action-packed, and there’s more low-cost or free fun activities to come for all ages to keep everyone active and warm.

There’s been laser tag, Christmas in July, slime-making, movies, dancing to name a few so far, and challenge rooms, build-a-bear workshops, and chess tournaments still to come.

Get Activated has hit Caroline Springs Leisure Centre, and will be at Cobblebank on Wednesday, July 5 with a round-robin to get your little one moving, climbing, dancing and running.

Families can also book in for cheap casual play sessions with professional grade basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis facilities.

There’s plenty to do at your local library too, with a visit from the Western BACE STEM Squad last week and visits from the the Butterfly Kidz mobile enclosure and canine comprehension teams coming this week.

Melton Mayor Lara Carli said the holidays are a time for having fun and making memories.

“Our holiday program helps every kid learn something exciting, make new friends, and spend quality time with their family,” she said.

“Everything we offer promotes lifelong learning, health and wellbeing – and we want to reinvigorate everyone’s sense of wonder, imagination and drive to explore.

“Our programme is full of opportunities to take a break from being stuck at home and make new friends face to face.”

Many activities are free but almost all have limited spaces, so make sure you book ahead.
