Beanies for breastfeeding awareness week

Darley mum-of-two Cindy Sutton has been busy knitting beanies for Breastfeeding Awareness Week.

As part of the international celebrations from August 1-7, Moorabool council is urging crafty residents to show their support by knitting, crocheting or felting beanies.

“I’m very pro-breastfeeding,” Ms Sutton said. “I’d like to also raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding, and encourage mums to give it a go.”

The beanies will be collected at Moorabool’s maternal and child health centres and at council offices until August 1.

After this, the beanies will be donated to a charity, which is yet to be named.

From 2.30pm-3.30pm on Thursday, August6, there will be a morning tea at Gordon Hall. Council chief executive Rob Croxford said prizes would be awarded for the most colourful and creative beanies.
