Ballan streets have been given a major facelift.
Stage one of the streetscape upgrade in Inglis Street, between Stead and Fisken streets, was recently completed. An official opening ceremony has been planned for Wednesday, August 23.
The upgrades included:
• Replacing and widening concrete footpaths with asphalt footpaths;
• Replacing other hard surfaces and nature strips with sawn bluestone paving and asphalt;
• New street furniture;
• New garden beds, and the planting of 27 trees and 2300 plants;
• Improving drainage systems;
• Improving pedestrian safety, accessibility and connectivity;
• Improving on-street parking, including nine extra parking bays; and
• Installing electrical conduits and pits.
Stage two of the project will involve upgrades to Fisken Street and the southern end of Cowie Street. Design works are expected to be completed at the end of this month, with construction to be tendered soon after.
Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell is inviting residents to the official opening to hear more about stage two of the project.
“The result has been great and we’re receiving very positive feedback now the project is completed,” Mr Tatchell said.
The celebrations will kick off at 3pm on Thursday, August 23 at McLeans Reserve, Inglis Street.
