Collectors and motor enthusiasts are gearing up for next weekend’s Ballan Great Vintage Rally and Tractor Pull.

The rally has been running for more 15 years and is one of the major events for the Ballan District Vintage Machinery and Vehicle Club.

Club treasurer Ray Meadows said vintage car clubs from around Victoria flock to the annual event where there will be sheep shearing, stationary engine exhibits, model trains, handcrafts and entertainment.

“I grew up on the farm and I’ve loved tractors and machinery since I was young,” he said.

“I started collecting from there and have 12 tractors now.”

Event co-ordinator Jason Palmer said the event was expected to attract up to 2000 visitors from around the region.

“There’s plenty of action happening on the day and various activities for everyone to enjoy,” Mr Palmer said.

“Our features this year are Holden products and two-stroke machinery, along with various other exhibits as well.”

The event is on next Saturday (February 18) from 9.30am to 4pm at Ballan racecourse. Adults $10, family $20 and children under 14 years are admitted free.
