Bacchus Marsh Primary School pupils Lachlan, Bella and Maddy have taken out their new sports gear for a spin.
The school received more than 100 new items of sports equipment through Coles’ Sports for Schools program last week, after school families collected more than 169,000 vouchers.
Bacchus Marsh Primary School physical education co-ordinator Lisa Hurst is thrilled with the program’s contribution to the school.
“We don’t have enough money in our [school] budget to get all this equipment,” she said. “It’s supplemented our supply of equipment, and it gives the children so many more opportunities.”
Among the gear the school received were gym mats, basketballs, portable soccer goals, and mini-trampolines.
Schools across Melton and Moorabool received about $80,000 of sports gear through the program.
Coles state general manager Grant Shelton said the supermarket giant was “delighted” to be delivering sports equipment to local schools.
“We hope the new sports equipment will result in a lot of healthy, active fun for school kids in the Melton and Moorabool areas,” he said.
