Arrests, firearms seized in Hoppers Crossing, Melton West

Armed Crime Squad detectives have arrested four men and seized three firearms while carrying out warrants at properties in Melton West and Hoppers Crossing.

Police said the warrants formed part of an ongoing investigation into a non-fatal shooting, which occurred in Melton West last November.

After police executed the warrants, a 68-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was arrested and charged with firearms offences. He remains in custody.

A 30-year-old Hoppers Crossing man, who was also arrested, has been interviewed by police and has been released pending further inquiries.

On Friday, a warrant was executed at a property in Melton West resulted in a 32-year-old man being arrested.

The man, who is subject to a current Firearms Prohibition Order, has since been charged with a range of firearms offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.

A 21-year-old Melton West man was also arrested at the same property in possession of a firearm.

Police also seized three sawn-off shotguns, ammunition and a range of other items such as stolen property were seized from the Hoppers Crossing and Melton properties.
